See PCP...: Dry cough can be caused by several things - Environmental, Infectious, Non-Infectious even some medications used to treat other disorders. For one's age and this flu season, it is best to see the PCP for physical medical evaluation and appropriate diagnosis/ treatment if indicated.

See doctor: About 10% of the colds turns into a bacterial sinus infection which may be the cause for your cough.

It should: Often colds and upper respiratory infections are caused by viruses and the cough is very often the last thing to improve after dealing with one of these infections. As long as it's dry I wouldn't worry about further infection or possibly a bacterial superinfection on top of it. You could try OTC cough meds like Delsym, (dextromethorphan) or even ask your doctor for benzonatate pills to take during the day to help.

? sinuses: Can be your sinuses, sinusitis can follow common cold, would cause headaches and cough from post nasal discharge or irritation to airways, see your doctor, you might need an antibiotic, in the interim use saline nasal wash and OTC pain killers

Chronic cough: Probably not a Cold from December, but your cough is chronic and needs to be evaluated for the cause of it. See a Dr. and you may even need some testing including a C-Xray for a 6 month cough. best wishes.

i am a smoker for about 3 years. i had a cold recently and the symptoms subsided about 2 weeks ago.  i still have a dry cough. is this normal?

Yes: Many people have coughs after an infection for 4 weeks whether they area smoker or not.  Smokers have longer prolonged healing times for hire lungs too.  If it persists past 4 week I would see an MD or if you have blood that you cough up or are short of breath or have recurrent fevers or night sweats , go now to see an MD.

Cough: A chronic cough can be caused by many things such as gastroesophageal reflux disease, allergic rhinitis, and certain medications.  You should follow up with your primary care physician for further evaluation and treatment.

after some colds, my 8 y.old boy has an episode of dry cough every night around 3 a.m. he cough 15 min, then stop. every night the same scenario. during the day he cough very rare, 1 per hour, even less. what is it? thank you?!?

: This could be residual from the lung injury from the virus &amp; if so would gradually fade. It could also indicate a very mild form of asthma called cough variant asthma that can be hard to diagnose because of its mild symptoms. Discuss this with his doc at his next visit.
