A member asked:

I am a smoker for about 3 years. i had a cold recently and the symptoms subsided about 2 weeks ago. i still have a dry cough. is this normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Many people have coughs after an infection for 4 weeks whether they area smoker or not. Smokers have longer prolonged healing times for hire lungs too. If it persists past 4 week I would see an MD or if you have blood that you cough up or are short of breath or have recurrent fevers or night sweats , go now to see an MD.
