It's possible: There is typically a lot of redundancy in hernia repair, so if one suture tore through the tissue, there should be others to take the load. Also, if mesh was used, this should overlap the hernia by enough that a recurrence should be avoided. Having said that, a strong cough could potentially cause the whole repair to fail. Scar tissue: Hi, this lump you are feeling can be from many things, including scar tissue, a persistent fold of skin, or stitch. Many times after surgery, the skin overlying the hernia does not shrink and can feel like a lump or thicker than your other skin. Another possibility is a suture granuloma. Depending on how it was repaired, you may be feeling a suture that is designed to be slowly absorbed over time.

Swelling: After an umbilical hernia repair, there is frequently swelling of the tissues that can take weeks to go away. Also, a fluid collection can form between the skin and the deeper fascia layer (the layer that gets repaired in a hernia surgery) called a seroma. A seroma is more common when mesh is used and almost always goes away on its own. Make sure you followup with your surgeon.

im two weeks after hernia surgery, they insterted som kind of a net inside....i started coughing hard, can it damage the surgery somehow?

Possibly: Your hernia was most likely repaired with mesh.  Every time you cough, you increase the pressure in your abdomen and the pressure on the repair.  If you had the repair done laparoscopically, the mesh is behind the hole so coughing should not cause problems.  If it was done open, the mesh is in front of the hole, so it may cause a recurrence.  See your doctor about that cough.

Unrelated: Hernia surgery does not affect the involuntary nerves and blood supply to the penis and would have no affect on the ability of an erection. Discuss with your primary physician or a urologist.

: sometime there is reactive swelling of the spermatic cord or some blood there. It gets absorbed slowly over about 8-12 weeks. You should be fine. Keep yor apponitments with the surgeon and let him/her know

Yes: You will feel the "lump" that is part swelling and minor bleeding and part scar tissue formation. At the beginning of healing, scar starts off like a microscopic pile of hay.As the hay fibers get linked & stronger, the rest of the hay can be reabsorbed and the wound gets softer. The sensation of a lip or mass will then go away. Usually takes a few months to a year for all this to happen.
