Normal flora: Hemophilus influenzae is a little unusual to be isolated from a vaginal swab, but this organism is part of our normal bacterial population, primarily found in the upper respiratory tract.  Like all bacteria, it has the potential to create infection under the right circumstances, but this is not common without some predisposition.

Pneumonia : If you are not having symptoms I would say you are fine. You were at risk but it sounds the exposure did not effect you

See below: I am assuming you are being treated for pneumonia. The medications you are taking are often effective for H.influenza if given in adequate dosage. Depending of the antibiotic sensitivity testing you may need a change in treatment. You should request your physician to consult with an Infectious Disease specialist for advice if your not improving.

"H FLU": is a common bacterial "dweller" in the Upper Respiratory tract..including the sinuses....
Some physicians feel that it should be treated IF associated with upper respiratory symptomatology
Some feel it is a "normal" "colonizer"

Nasal Swab: The three most common bacterial pathogens causing upper respiratory infection in adults are Moraxella catarrhalis, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Haemophilus influenzae. A nasal swab is performed to culture and see what pathogen is causing problems. Haemophilus is a normal colonizer,  but when isolated from sputum during infection it can indicate colonization has morphed to pathogenicity.

How do you FEEL?: This bacterium can live normally in the sinus as one of your normal friendly flora. Especially if there's not a lot of bacteria or white cells visible, I doubt the area that was swabbed was infected.

Yes: Hib meningitis is a vaccine-preventable disease.  Children who are not fully immunized for hib are still at risk and do continue to catch this life-threatening illness.  Make sure your child has had a full series of hib vaccine.

Antibodies: Rituximab targets your B lymphocytes, some of these are in charge of producing antibodies. Perhaps the treatment is interfering somewhat with your antibody titers to these germs.
