Ibuprofen: Take two advil (ibuprofen) every four hours whether it hurts or not.   You could also supplement it with the pain pills if provided.  After a few days, you should be better, but it sometimes just takes a while.  Hang in there., .

Molars: Why are you having all your molars removed? It is possible to have braces with no molars however it may be more difficult as we need anchorage to move teeth and molars are great anchors.

Many: Smoking can contribute to clot loss and bone infection (dry socket).  I don't have to tell you that smoking causes mouth cancer, lung cancer, kidney and pancreas disease, contributes to colon cancer, increases heart attack and stroke rate, etc.  Smoking is just plain stupid, so don't look for any doctor to tell you it's ok.  You've gone 50 hours, more than 2 full days.  Keep it up.

Re-evaluation: Have your dentist or oral surgeon (whoever extracted the teeth) re-evaluate the region... if you are still swollen after being on antibiotics for two weeks, a culture may be indicated to determine which bacteria are present and if a change in meds is indicated. Fell better soon...

my power chain snapped on my lower first molar after getting my pre-molars pulled, leaving two dangling circles. i can't reach my orthodontist until friday due to the holiday. can i cut off the snapped part myself or is it risky?

: It is risky.  I know having anything hanging off your teeth is irritating but it is best to wait until a skilled operator can corect the problem.  That by now must a\have been accomplished..

Uncommon: Some people just react badly to Meds.  Call your Husband's treating Dentist for alternative medication.

Dental issues: should be evaluated with carefull follow up and consultation with treating dentist: if not allergic, I suggest use or ibuprofen 600mg/day or Aleve  -1 tab every 8-12 hrs, Definitely call your dentist asap.

i'm 86 years old and on plavix (clopidogrel).  i need three molars pulled.  the dentist says i should stop taking my plavix (clopidogrel) for three days and all will be ok.  ?

You should be fine: OK to stop Plavix (clopidogrel) for 3 days, but you should have a pre surgery course of antibiotics. Check with your primary care provider or your cardiologist.

i am getting four molars pulled out for braces and i still haven't gotten my wisdom teeth. should i wait?

No: First of all it's probably premolars, not molars, being removed.  Check with your orthodontic specialist.  Second, while wisdom teeth often have to be removed we can't move an entire arch of teeth back into wisdom teeth areas.  They are separate and distinct issues.  Again, ask your orthodontic specialist or your family dentist for explanation.

the underside of my tongue - the right hand side, has been scraping against two sharp molars. my tongue now has a small cut. how do i treat this?

See a dentist: Have the sharp edges of those molars smoothed down and restored, if necessary.
