No way to tell: If you're concerned, ask dentist for a different antibiotic.  Know that antibiotics only control dental infections.  To cure them thou need specific dental treatment.

Several issues: There are many issues here.  First, it takes some time for antibiotics to work.  Did you take penicillin on your own or was it prescribed for you?  Secondly, the cause of the infection needs to be resolved.  Merely taking antibiotics will not solve the problem.  You also might have more than one issue.  You need to see a dentist and have him\her diagnose and treat you accordingly.
