: I think you should be good. Rinse your mouth with glyoxide or some mouth wash to get rid of some of the bacteria and give your dentist a call if you develop pain, swelling, or drainage from that area.

: Yes, it can happen a couple months after the surgery. 
Furthermore, the bacteria can be seeding to the artificial joint when you have a mild infection with transient bacteremia  (bacteria in your blood).
Infection if the hip (septic arthritis) will cause fever, joint pain, redness, swelling and deformity.
Flossing or using Waterpik very less likely cause transient bacteremia.

Inflammation: The gum tissue around that tooth may be inflamed. Flossing should keep it clean and eventually alleviate the sensitivity. Brush twice a day, too.

: Gums that are irritated bleed when you floss. Gums get irritated when you do not regularly floss. So the bleeding usually means that you have not been flossing regulary. It can also be a reflection of how much aspirin or ibuprofen you have been taking and makes it easier to bleed. Floss daily and avoid regular use of aspirin or ibuprofen or any other anti-inflammatory similar medication.

i'm wondering what does it mean when my gums bleed when flossing?

Two possibilities : 1: you have one of the several gum diseases. You should talk to your dentist about treatment or referral to specialist;  or 2: you are traumatizing the sensitive gum tissues between the teeth with improper technique. Usually indicative of "snapping" the floss thru the contact or "sawing" the gums between the teeth. Your dentist and hygienist can help you learn proper technique to avoid self harm.
