This is  why determining the cause of foot and leg pain can sometimes be both frustrating and difficult. The compensatory symptoms can over shadow the initial problem(s), causing frustration in treatment.

Start Now.: By the sound of it, likely a fascia injury and possibly some involvement with the Achilles tendon. These are initially treated in the RICE fashion.(rest, ice, compression and elevation) This will help with the swelling and pain. Avoid bearing weight on the foot until it can be examined and the true extent of the injury can be determined. Use Crutches until you can see a foot and ankle specialist.

Achilles stretch : The wall stretch (stretches calf), staircase stretch, runners stretch, towel around the foot and straighten knees slowly, there are many others but difficult to explain without first hand demonstration.  I hope this helps though.

It can: A tight tendo achilles can limit ankle motion. If so, that can increase pronation in the foot, causing strain in the arch and contribute to plantar fasciitis.

Plantar fasciitis: Plantar fasciitis usually felt under the heel. It sounds more as if you have an Achilles tendinitis.
Try foam rolling your calve muscles. The strain may be coming from your calve muscles. A good physical examination may reveal the true cause of the pain.

after a high ankle sprain 6 weeks ago, i am still experiencing discomfort at my achilles' tendon and heel when i plantar flex my foot. why is this?

Achilles pain: Sorry about your sprain.  Your achilles tendon is a nearby structure and during your sprain, you may have also damaged your nearby structures or the swelling from the sprain can cause pain around the area. Also, sometimes posterior ankle impingement at the joint cause pain when plantarflexing.  Best of luck.

felt pain at the back of the heel of my foot during dorsiflexion, no pain in normal resting mode or plantar flexion, pain is at the lower end near the heel bone, no redness & swelling, no injuries. is this achilles tendon related or something else?

: From your description it seems it can be due to Achiles Tendon inflammetion.I suggest you try Ibuprofen 400 mgm Three times a day after meals if you dont have aspirin/Ibuprofen allergy or stomach ulcers.See if it helps in 2to5 days.If not consult your Doctor or a Podiatrist

: The simple answer is yes. If you wear high-heeled shoes a lot this will shorten your Achilles tendon overtime. I tell people to listen to what your body is telling you. It sounds like your body’s telling you the Achilles tendon’s are short and tight and need to be stretched

Depending o age: This may be normal, the part not walking with full pressure on foot.  To stretch achilles bend foot up toward leg until they resist and hold for about 10 seconds then repeat.  If the baby has tight achilles later they may need a per cutaneous tendon lengthening.

Refer to answer: Plantar fascists rarely happens as a results of sports. In our practice we have seen as a results of other condition the most common cause is gout( uric acid needs to be below 6.0) . The are other causes, diabetes, ra. Ice and stretching could help. Rarely you may need a cortison shot.
