TMJ: Sounds like this could be TMJ - temporomandibular joint disorder - in which there is inflammation of the joint.  Have your doctor examine you for this to make sure it's not something else.  It tmj, it can be treated.

Could be a couple...: ...of things! 1) Possible otitis externa: a painful infection of the outer part of the ear (outside the eardrum), associated with swimming (swimmers ear) and typically responds to drops. 2) TMJ: May be TMJ syndrome: painful condition of the joint where the jaw attaches. You might have popping, locking, uncomfortable with chewing. Avoid gum, chewy foods, and excessive motion. Seek help from your DO

Facial pain: Could be a sinus infection or even  an eye infection.  Adenoviral infections will typically give a unilateral pre-auricular lymph nose and pain/discharge from same sided eye.

Inflammation of that muscle can result in pain that’s felt in the ear. But if you’re having trouble with your hearing, or a ringing in your ear, or dizziness, then it may in fact be ear-related.
