A cut is a cut: Tetanus is possible when a cut on the skin is contaminated by tetanus spores that are all around, predominantly in soils. It doesn't matter what made the cut if the exposure comes after the skin is open. The rusty nail is the classic source because it is on the ground to begin with when people step on it. Even if low risk it serves as a reminder to update your protection.If &gt; 10 yrs get the shot.

4) check tetanus history.
5) check for infection.

Open wound: Clean your wound with soap and water, apply an over-the-counter antibiotic ointment and cover with a bandage. Check your wound daily and repeat this until the wound is closed and intact. If redness, swelling, cloudy discharge or pain begins then seek evaluation by your family physician. If you are diabetic then seek evaluation as soon as possible.

Depends on depth: If the cut is superficial (not too deep), and is healing ok you are probably fine.  If the cut was deper, there could be tendon or nerve involvement.  Should be checked.

Glass injury: Superficial cuts to the tongue generally heal quickly, with no intervention required. You can rinse mouth with water after eating to loosen debris. One risk of glass injury is a shard of glass remaining in the wound. This can be identified with XRAY, however the tongue is highly sensitive and I suspect you would notice it. Given bleeding has stopped, no further action required.  See Dr if problem.

Potentially: contaminated wounds should be cleaned immediately with mild soap and water, covered with thin layer of topical antibiotic ointment, covered and then evaluated by a physician.  Tetanus prophylaxis should be updated as needed and decisions regarding further treatment should be left to the physician taking into account any existing medical issues such as diabetes, vascular disease, smoking, etc.
