: Where was the candida glabrata detected? It has been three months and you are still fine so likely that resistant yeast is a colonized organism and not causing any disease in your case. That relatively resistant candida can be present in vagina, urine, etc. without causing any inflammation. Good luck.

Candida Glabrata: This is a good question! Candida Glabrata is often resistant to our standard anti-fungal vaginal creams (like monistat, lotrimin, and terazol) as well as the standard oral medication: difluan.  There are other, stronger antifungal agents, but they may carry more risk to your health.  I usually prescribe compounded Boric Acid vaginal capsules for this condition. It works most of the time.

A diet rich in...: Probiotics and zinc.  Probiotics includes yogurt, or probiotic supplements. I would take zinc gluconate as a supplement, rather than change my diet! 50mg of zinc gluconate!

See below: It depends where the infection is located.  Many strains of c. Glabrada are resistant to fluconazole/diflucan but some strains are sensitive and can be treated with this drug.  If resistant to Diflucan you can use oral voriconazole or intravenous micafungin or caspofungin.

Obtain: a moist swab/culture and ask you GYN isf you should complete another course....hold on pregnancy until you are ASYMPTOMATIC!

Yes: Where/what kind of infection?  Skin infection can be treated with topical antifungals.  Urinary tract infection can usually be cured with fluconazole.  Although many strains are relatively resistant to fluconazole(diflucan) the high levels achieved in urine overcome this.  An invasive infection that is Diflucan  resistant may need voriconazole or an echinocandin(micafungin).

: If you are otherwise healthy you should tolerate a short course of fluconazole, even at the higher dose. It has been in common use for many years now. It is the Candida and not your body that is resistant, hence the higher dose, and in fact a lower and likely inadequate dose of fluconazole would create more potential for increased resistance. Your treatment appears appropriate.

Candida: Most likely from taking antibiotics for other problem. which suppress good bugs and Candida takes over.  But you did not give enough history to help. Discuss with your Dr.

: All "azole" treatments are inactive against most strains of Candida glabrata. If fluconazole (Diflucan) hasn't worked, miconazole (Monistat) also will be ineffective. But don't assume diflucan didn't work, unless your symptoms have not improved. Check with your doctor to confirm need for more treatment, perhaps with other types of drugs (like echinocandins, nystatin, etc). Good luck.
