Congrats : Congrats and hopefully you will both have good news in the near future!

there is a misconception regarding pregnancy and dentistry. Some people are led to believe that the mother should not undergo any treatment whatsoever. This is not completely true.

Root canal therapy is a local treatment, taking place in one very small area of the body. The procedure itself is not invasive.

What would be of concern is if the tooth is not treated, and then flares up. Your wife could be in pain, may get an infection, and become stressed over the entire ordeal. That would be worse, since she may need medicatins that act systemically, not locally. Not that these medications would necessarily affect the fetus, but i think you understand my point.

She's not even pregnant yet, is she? Why not have the procedure completed in the next week or two, and this way it isn't even an issue. Consult with your dentist on his/her views as well as your fertility specialist. Each may have a different view on this subject.

No uterus: A lady with androgen insensitivity syndrome (ais) does not have a uterus, so cannot get pregnant. However, if a man with a less-severe case of ais was one of the rare ais males who were able to make some sperm, he might be able to father a child.

Genetic male: A phenotypic woman with genotype 46, xy is likely suffering from complete or partial androgen insensitivity, formerly known as testicular feminization. These patients lack a uterus, and usually have a blind-ending vagina.   The gonads present in the patient are testicles, and not ovaries. The patient would need to utilize a donor egg and surrogate mother for the zygote.

Salpingitis: Salpingitis (infection/inflammation of the fallopian tube) is commonly treated with antibiotics.  Anti-inflammatory medications do not show a clear benefit.

Talk to a specialist: Successful pregnancy requires a complex hormone milieu. I don't know if it can be done with exogenous hormone administration, but seems like it should be possible.

As high as 60 - 65%: Your chances depend on age, ovarian reserve or egg supply, and other factors - blocked tubes (hydrosalpinx) or polyps inside the uterus reduce your chances. Under 35, with ok ovarian reserve, your chances should be as high as 60 - 65% with two embryos transferred, somewhat lower if you have one embryo replaced. Your fertility clinic knows your history and can give you more detailed information.

Yes: Iui and ivf are two separate procedures done to enhance chances of pregnancy. Iui involves,  placing your partners sperm in your uterus through a small plastic canula during ovulation and can be done by any gynecologist . Ivf in vitro fertilization , which means fertilizing the  female egg with the male sperm  in a lab and placing the fertilized eggs in your uterus, usually done by infertility md.

Possibly: Many clinics use Lupron (leuprolide) as part of their ivf stimulation protocols.  In the right combination with any medications, Lupron (leuprolide) is very effective and useful medication for ivf stimulation protocols.  Hope this helps.  Talk to you doctor about how he or she uses Lupron (leuprolide) and why.
