I would encourage: you to start with your primary medical provider. A sleep consultation can be made if medically indicated. If you are 17 years old - you would need a lot of money for sleep specialty evaluation. Sleep phase problem: Are you going to bed earlier or later on weekend nights?  Napping on weekends? If earlier, your internal clock is simply not ready for sleep.  If later, you may be cycling into a more alert phase of your circadian rhythm.  Naps during the day on weekends can delay sleep onset, especially long naps.

Light therapy is: used to treat depression.  Full spectrum lighting is used to boost mood.  Regular lights won't do it.  Sleep disorder can be diagnosed in a sleep lab, usually connected to a hospital.  That sounds more on target.  Start w/family doc who can refer you. Difficulty falling: Asleep is often associated w/anxiety while waking up early and not returning to sleep is associated w/depression.  Periodic waking is associated w/overall light sleep.  Please see you doc who may order a sleep study.  A psychologist can help w/stress management. Peace and good health.  Try not to nap in daytime or limit it to a cat nap of 15 minutes.

Many things: Sleep disorders include sleep apnea, sleep paralysis, sleep talking, walking and eating, bedwetting, jumping leg syndrome, repeated nighntmares or night terrors, insomnia andf/or frequent awakening. So'me, if not all, occur in rem sleep and this is the most important part of the sleep cycle. If deprived of it for long enough, it is lethal. A sleep laboratory can define.
