Sure sounds like it: Once you're sedated, a tv camera on a thin, flexible tube is inserted through your mouth, &amp; is passed gently into your esophagus, stomach, &amp; upper part of the small intestine.  Depending on the reason for the exam, biopsies may be taken for H.pylori bacteria, celiac sprue, eosinophilic esophagitis, Barrett's esophagus, polyps can be removed, bleeding can be controlled, &amp; other samples collected.

super gassy sometimes. i have coffee everyday in the morning with soy/almond milk and artificial sweeteners. is this ibs or just a bad case of gastritis?

Gas: A very small percentage of people are sensitive to soy, so this is one possible source. Even more possible are the artificial sweetners. Many of these are very difficult for the gut to digest appropriately, and can then cause your problem - gas. I'd start by eliminating them for a week and seeing if symptoms improve, then if so, very gradually add tiny amounts back and see what you can tolerate.

Junk food: Stop junk food.do a bowel cleanse by avoiding coffee soda energy drinks fast food and frozen canned food. Drink 2 -3 littes if water for next 3 days. Eat fresh fruits and veg washed at home ,not salads from stores/restaurants . If still not better see a doctor . If overweight try to exercise .avoid sports drinks as well

Not normal: Blood in the stool is not normal and needs to be explained. Causes can range from  local irritation, anal fissure ( crack in the tissue),  hemorrhoid, polyp, to cancer. You will need to see a health care provider to get a diagnosis.

: Discomfort in the midline of the upper abdomen relieved by eating is a characteristic of benign ulcers of the stomach or duodenum.Malignant ulcers in the stomach are often aggravated by eating. Awakening in the AM with an urgent need for a BM is often seen in irritable bowel syndrome unless this is a recent development in your case. I recommend consulting a gastroenterologist for diagnosis &amp; treat

: Could be (especially IBS) but could also be something more serious like diverticulitis.  If you are tender in the left lower abdomen and/or if this continues for more than another day or so, you really need to be examined - at Urgent Care or by your primary physician.

Gastritis: Gastritis is a temporary state, and means inflammation of the stomach lining. Start with focusing on your diet, eliminate any foods that cause your stomach to hurt. Keep track of how you feel after meals in a diary. Many times using a acid suppressor medication like Nexium or Protonix on a regular schedule will result in cure over the next 4-6 weeks. Pepcid is another good option. Hang in there!!
