Which antibiotic?: No medication is without potential side effect. Work w/your (grandma's) doc to determine if desired benefit exceeds potential risk. Some medications, such as paracetamol, are dangerous to liver in high doses. Others harm kidneys or stomach lining. Ask prescribing doc which medications are being used. Then search reputable references such as www.drugs.com &amp; www.epocrates.com, etc. Good luck!

NSAIDS are a risk: Factor.  I can't tell if you think you cannot be off them due to other health concerns.  The locations discussed  are very consistent with ulcers associated with nsaids.  Not likely to be ulcers elsewhere based on what you have described.

: Sure, one can jug/run if one had gastric ulcer or gastritis as long as there are no active complications like bleeding or vomiting.  One should have a PCP/Gastroenterologist  for management, avoid foods/drinks that worsen symptoms, especially Alcohol &amp; Smoking and limit stressors.. In general Exercise is Good for Health.

Gastritis: Gastritis is inflammation of stomach lining. Ulcer is erosion of the lining.

how are symptoms different between gastritis and gastric/peptic ulcer?

Accepted Answer

They can overlap.: Some symptoms of gastritis and gastric ulcer can be the same - abdominal pain and discomfort. Some times  an ulcer can cause more severe pain and if it is causing bleeding people will have black bowel movements or "melena " as a result.

Sometimes an evaluation by a physician with lab work and possibly EGD (scope to look in stomach to visualize esophagus and stomach lining) is the only way to tell

Special circumstance: For someone in your condition, it is best to eat small, frequent meals throughout the day to ensure you receive nutrition throughout the day.  This will allow you to receive the nutrients throughout the day without feeling nauseated or heavy.  This will prevent the heartburn if you eat something every 3-4 hours throughout the day until the ulcers heal.

Have you taken antibiotics for the h.Pylori?

i have gerd, 4 small gastric ulcers, & gastritis. lipase enzymes mildly over limit, amylase levels are fine. what could this be from?

Excessive acid: There could be a medical condition causing too much acidity (zollinger-ellison) syndrome, or it could be from an h. Pylorii infection. Please discuss further with your GI doc since further testing is available to figure this out. Best wishes.

what could cause hydronephrosis of 1 kidney without stones or uti, rbcs 0-5 in urinalysis. hx of gi issues, gastric ulcers, chronic gastritis?

You: could very well have a "stricture" of the ureter leading from that kidney and emptying in your bladder. Peritoneal fibrosis  is another condition which can cause obstructive uropathy..(Overuse of certain pain medications have been implicated) Hope this helps!

by gastroscopy, i received a diagnoses, antral gastritis, duodentis, gastric ulcer. negative on helicobactet and doctor sent biopsy. only nurse talked to me after and gave me pantoloc 40mg daily, maarlox twice daily for two weeks. should i worry?

You will heal: Work closely with your nurse and doctor.  Problems such as yours typically respond rapidly to appropriate interventions.  You should start to respond rapidly.  Antibiotics do not seem necessary in your case.

i just recently had a egd procedure done ,and i was found to have the following..gastritis; reflux esophagitis with spasm; stage b, gastric ulcer,duodenum erosions...also had barium swallow.why does it feel like i have to burp always and i cant do it?

Esophageal spasm: It is likely that the esophageal spasm gives you the sensation of incomplete burping. You have significant structural and functional abnormalities if the upper gi tract and tight followup with your gastroenterologist will be critical going forward.
