i'm concerned that i might have gallbladder issues, possibly gallstones.  can stones cause muscle soreness in the backs of the legs & in the forearms?

No...: Gallstones and/or gallbladder problems cause abdominal pain and GI distress including nausea, vomiting, bloating and bowel changes.

Accepted Answer

Not typically: Gallbladder symptoms usually effect the upper abdomen either in the middle or on the right side under the rib cage (over the liver).  Some patients complain of back pain on that side as well.  Frequently, gallbladder problems are confused and treated as heartburn or reflux. It would be very unusual to have leg pain associated with the gallbladder.

both legs?

Accepted Answer

: I do not think that having gallstones could cause bilateral pitting edema, however gallstones are more likely to be seen in overweight and obese people so also is pitting edema more likely occur in the same group of people. There is no direct pathway for both to occur, but could have associations for different reasons like being overweight or abnormalities in the liver processes.

Accepted Answer

Nerve: Tingling is a symptom of nerve compression.  You likely have a degenerative disc that is pressing against the nerve exiting the spinal column. When you open up the disc space by sitting or other position of comfort the impingement of the nerve is released.
Meds help calm down the inflamation and narrow the space. The muscles and spasm /strain can go away with meds, therapy, hands on treatment.

what could be causing involuntry muscle contraction/twitching while sleeping for 4-5sec once runing from upper abdomen to leg post 15days of cesarean?

Accepted Answer

Nerve damage: damage to the nerves going to the muscles in that region.  called fasciculations. Possibly due to damage caused by surgery.   this should resolve over time.  if it doesn't resolve in a couple of months, I would see a neurologist, specially if you are having symptoms like numbness and twitching in your hands and feet.

my grandma has neuropathy and was in the hospital needing gallbladder removed and gallstones. water is leaking from her legs. she got a water pill. what should she do? thank you?

Accepted Answer

: Water in the legs (lower extremity edema) is less likely caused by neuropathy. She probably has history of weak heart or kidney problem. She needs to be careful with salt and fluid intake, raise her legs up when in supine position and if the diuretic is a loop diuretic (furosemide, bumetanide, etc.)  she can take it as needed every 8 hours for 2,3 doses pending instruction for her family doc.

Yes: Gallstones can cause digestive symptoms, mimic heart attacks and if the gallbladder becomes infected, can cause serious sepsis and jaundice. This would certainly cause muscle weakness.

?poor diet: Gall stones are the result of poor diet in the first place and maybe that continues. Medical students are taught that gall stones represent " fair, fat and forty". It is very surprising to many that poor diet is responsible for poor health in millions and may be the single most important factor in the overall poor health in the U.S.

recently right upper quad pain, positive for gallstones, experiencing episodes of sandy texture diarrhea ?

Accepted Answer

Not gallstones: All kinds of gi system upset are common with gallbladder problems.  Heartburn, upper abdomen pain, back pain, diarrhea, nausea and other problems often occur. Sandy textured diarrhea is almost certainly not gallstones, but simply diarrhea.  If diarrhea persists you should see your doctor.
