Not necessarily true: G6pd deficiency is an inherited enzyme deficiency.  The enzyme is involved in metabolism and anti-oxidant metabolism in red blood cells.  Dietary triggers include fava beans and a variety of medications.  Stress is not a well established trigger but it has been associated with worsening symptoms.  In g6pd, red blood cells die due to the enzyme defect.  As a result, stress can result in anemia.

About powders...: There are thousands of supplements advertised to do all sorts of magical remedies. Very few supplements have real research studies to show benefits (but manufacturers make claims, based on theories, animal tests, testimonials, chemical similarities, etc... but not based on real research because real research is hard to do and is expensive to do). Food sources of L-glutamine may be less worrisome.

Heereditary disease: Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G-6-PD) deficiency is a hereditary condition in which red blood cells break down when the body is exposed to certain drugs or the effect of  infection. It occurs when a person is missing or doesn't have enough of an enzyme called glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, which helps red blood cells work properly. Too little G6PD leads to the destruction of red blood cells (hemolysis). . The effect of hemolysis is  usually brief since  the body continues to produce new red blood cells.

You don't: This is genetic,  where your genetic code does not carry the information for you to make g6pd in normal amounts. This enzyme problem only effects those cells where this becomes an issue like the red cells.The enzyme helps the red cell maintain its cell wall integrity by assisting energy production.Without it the red cells can break down. You learn to avoid certain meds and foods and life can be ok.
