G6PD testing...: If your doctors suspects g6pd deficiency based on symptoms and other tests (liver values) he/she can order a direct test, the "beutler fluorescent spot test".

G6PD NOT IN SCREEN: Newborn screen does not include g6pd deficiency g6pd def present when the child is exposed to certain triggers like bacterial or viral infections, certain painkillers and fever reducing drugs, certain antibiotics containing sulpha, certain antimalarial drugs, fava beans, naphthalene found in moth balls if you or your pediatrician suspect g6pd deficieny with hemolytic anemia, child can be tested.
