: no, the colloidal solutions have a insignificant amount of silver, so don't worry

if a head & neck ct with contrast didn't show anything 6 months ago, what is the likelihood it would now?  still having pain and still no diagnosis.

Accepted Answer

Unlikely: Repeating a head CT would probably not show anything different if it was clear 6 mos ago. If the pain is severe your doctors might want to consider MRI which shows the soft tissue of the brain better than CT and gives you no radiation exposure. I hope you get some relief soon.

It depends on: where in the spine the hypertrophy is but basically it is the overgrowth of some part of the spine.

Just a touch: Every center has a slightly different protocol but a typical soft tissue neck CT's inferior margin is the tops of the lungs.  Frequently however so little of the lungs are seen that no mention is noted in the report.

what is  lemierre's syndrome?  my neck ct scan shows this says clinical concern for  lemierre's syndrome.

Lemierre's syndrome: Lemierre's syndrome refers to infected clot in your veins. It affects young, healthy adults and develops most often after a sore throat caused by some bacteria of the streptococcus genus has created a peritonsillar abscess. The bacteria penetrate into the neighboring jugular vein in the neck and there they cause an infected clot which can break off and cause an infected pulmonary embolus.

Possibly.: The tops of the lungs might have been included on the scan, in which case a pancoast tumor could be visualized.

cluster of lymph nodes on neck. ct scan shows nothing abnormal however i am still worried.do i irritate them if i keep touching them?

: You can watch and wait. You may feel the nodes every couple of weeks, if any of the lymph glands doubles in size, becomes painful, ulcerates, or other nodes become enlarged, or you develop fever, or lose weight, you should see a doctor. 
Occasional touching will not irritate the nodes.

: I like to review these findings with the radiologist &amp;get more input. I assume there is no involvement of the thyroid gland. This noncystic neck mass without a hilum may or may not be a malignant lymph node. A cystic mass without a hilum is much more suspicious. I recommend consulting a head and neck surgeon to help guide you through the workup and go over the upcoming ct scan findings.

: The increase in risk of cancer is not meaningful and not measurable.
You can reduce your risk of cancer by adopting healthy habits: Eat a mostly vegetarian diet, avoid alcohol, tobacco and street drugs, avoid excessive exposure  to sun, get HPV vaccine, exercise 30 minutes each day, drink enough water so your urine is mostly colorless.

will a head and neck ct scan show the esophagus? thank you!

Accepted Answer

ONLY: the very top...and that "poorly". The Esophagus needs evaluation with a Barium swallow/and/or endoscopy (the latter is simple, safe and most "sensitive" for determination of esophageal abnormalities.  Hope this is helpful!
