By mouth: Lets start first by saying topicals don't work.. Despite what ads and commercials may tell you. Several oral preparations are available such as itraconazole, terbinafine and fluconazole. Personally i like Fluconazole (and its the cheapest too) which can be pulsed weekly at 150-300mg for 3-6 months for fingernails...6-12 for toenails.

ANS: usually have to take longer than this. I would go to Drugs.com and look up alcohol and this med interactions with this and all other meds you are on.

Black spot: It may well be fungus again.  See your podiatrist for an evaluation and treatment.

Fungal Nails: Fungal infection of the nails is common, & no otc meds are proven to clear it. That said, it is usually a cosmetic problem & not a functional one. Nail polish won't hurt & will cover up the problem, which is often enough. There are medicines that can clear fungus from nails, but they can be expensive, & interact w/other meds. See your dr for more information.

is clotrimazole 1% solution use enough to treat toe nail fungus? i've been using this for a year now and it worked for one nail but seems slow for the other nail. what should i do now?

: If the cream didn't work it could be that the infection is simply too deep for the cream to reach, or it could be that it's not fungus. There are oral medications, but I always recommend seeing a podiatrist to confirm (or your GP if they're able to perform a fungal culture)

Toenail fungus: terbinafine  cream is for topical (skin) antifungal treatment and will not penetrate into the toenail for effective treatment.   Specific toenail products are used due to components that penetrate into the hard keratin structure of the nail.  There are many over the counter products that can be tried, but often  a stronger  doctors formula or prescription strength product is necessary.

Won't work: Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) contains trimethoprim and sulfamethoxazole which are two antibacterial antibiotics.  They have no effect on toe nail fungus infections.

Fungus: Natural is GREAT when it works. 
I have found that it is a hit and miss proposition. 
You can follow the label on the bottle of tea tree oil or see your podiatrist for a diagnosis and prescription. 
nail fungus is VERY hard to kill. I would treat both the nails and the athletes foot infection at the same time and get it done as quickly as possible.
