Toenail fungus: terbinafine cream is for topical (skin) antifungal treatment and will not penetrate into the toenail for effective treatment. Specific toenail products are used due to components that penetrate into the hard keratin structure of the nail. There are many over the counter products that can be tried, but often a stronger doctors formula or prescription strength product is necessary.
