ER or urgent care: If you are concerned about the facial swelling take child to ER or urgent care. If there is an infection of tooth still important to go to dentist on Thursday as antibiotics will only be partial treatment. Keep Thursday afternoon dental appointment.

Thanks for asking!: If the abscess bursts you will be swallowing all the infection and pus with a chance it could spread. Please get treatment. There are cases of people dying from dental abscess as it travels to your brain.

Yes: Due to the proximity of the ear to the mouth, and the distribution of nerves in the area, dental problems can often cause pain to radiate to the ears.  Frankly, gum disease seldom hurts until an advanced stage (periodontal abscess).  Tooth abscess frequently presents with ear pain.  Also, "tmj" problems (from jaw joints or associated muscles) often causes chronic ear pain or ringing in ears.

is it possible to have tooth abscess but have no lump on the gums?

Abcess: Yes. Sometimes the infection will drain towards the gums and create the "bump" you referred to.  Other times the infection stays in the jawbone and does not drain to the outside.

Depends: If the rash is immediately adjacent to the abscess it could be related but not necessarily. Delaying treatment on a dental abscess is never a good idea so please get it looked at ASAP.

Call dentist: Did your dentist prescribe antibiotics in addition? Call the dentist to make sure that the swelling is normal.  There is always some swelling after an extraction on a normal basis and it may take a while due to the severity of the infection.  Check with the dentist to alleviate any concerns.

Go to Dentist!: An abscess might go down after some "home remedies ", but ultimately the source of infection and the infection itself are still present, just not acute! For a real cure, you need to see the dentist for a proper diagnosis and appropriate treatment! Don't wait for the infection to become life threatening, seek out treatment now!

how long after taking oxycodone until it is safe to drink? i took on 5-325 tablet and it is not subsiding pain from a tooth abscess like alchahol does

Please seek care: It is not safe to mix alcohol and narcotics.  You're going to need a whole lot of alcohol if an oxycodone is not working. An abscess needs antibiotics and drainage, and finally treatment. Seek dental care and drink in moderation.

taking clindamycin 300 mg - 7 days after starting with iv for tooth abscess which has been pulled. tomorrow is my last pill, when is it safe to drink?

Whenever you want: Alcohol won't interfere with clindamycin or your abscess. You didn't need to avoid alcohol (in moderation) during treatment. Of course heavy drinking can interfere with the immune system's response to infections and should be avoided.
