hi. how can folliculitus be treated? can it come back?

Folliculitis: Folliculitis is a common skin condition in which hair follicles become inflamed. It's usually caused by a bacterial or fungal infection.  Treatment is with an antibiotic or anti-fungal.  It can come back.  Prevention : 1) Avoid tight fitting clothes at that site.  2) Avoid shaving the area if possible  3) If you have to shave, change razor blades every time  4) Only go in clean hot tubs and pools

Antibiotics: Folliculitis or inflammed/infection of the hair follicle can be cured by course of antibiotics.  Some have curly hair resulting in pseudofolliculitis barbae and this requires help of dermatologist.  Some harbor staph, and will have repeated episodes--see your doctor.  In the groin area/armpit, some may have infected sweat glands resembling folliculitis--see your doctor.

Need more detail: IUI are done when follicle size is around 18 to 20mm. I am not sure if you have given proper details. Did you take HCG injection already ?

i went to my dr he said these bumps i have are folicitis i think differently thru research there little lumps and if i rip them off they grow back and new ones are showing up ?

Some thoughts...: Bumps may be keratosis pilaris, eczema, comedones, sebaceous gland stuff, or folliculitis. Each may have a different treatment, so a primary care doctor or a dermatologist can evaluate and give some recommendations.  Rashes are hard to describe in words. For keratosis pilaris, one might try creams that contain lactic acid or alpha-hydroxy-acid to loosen up the clumped skin cells causing the bumps.

can i have folliculitus on the botom of my feet?

To date: I have never seen a hair follicule on the bottom of ones foot, so i would say no. If someone does somehow grow hair on the bottom of the foot then it would be possible.  But, i don't think that would be a common situation. Hence, my real answer is no.

are there any otc washes or ointments for vulvar folliculitus? (bacterial version) or something that might help?

Hibiclens: You can try hibiclens soap. You can try bleachbath-1/2 cup in full tub of wwater soak for 10 minutes-do 2 to 3 times a week.  See your dermatologist for evaluation and to discuss treatment options.

Question?: Yes, folliculitis can happen in genital areas. You should get evaluated by your doctor to see if you may need antibiotics to treat, vs just localized therapy.

on day 5 of keflex (7 day course) for vulvar folliculitus. has helped a bit but noticed some new pustules growing. should they be cleared up by now?

Expected: It sounds like the proper time course for improvement. To help with some of the redness and inflammation you may talk to your doctor about using a topical steroid.

Likely normal: Depending on your age and menstrual status, this could be normal. The presence of sub centimeter follicles and free pelvic fluid in reproductive age is expected.  Cavity echo can be due to normal or abnormal  tissue  depending on the menstrual cycle stage you were in when got the study.

i have suffered with folliculitus and have now lost hair from it. is their a possibillity that at 19 i can have the scarred area cut out and re-alined?
