You can ask but: You can ask but unlikely. I'd be more worried about surgeon losing concentration with awake patient. Tumor very very close to facial nerve. Risk of facial paralysis.
You are safer doing the procedure under general anesthesia than you are driving to the hospital for the procedure.
Best bet: Have the procedure done using the protocol that the surgeon is most comfortable with.

Sebaceous cysts: Many people have these cysts, which develop in the earlobes and behind the ears. They are oily, containing sebum, and sometimes can get infected. If you're able to express and drain them on your own, I would not be too concerned. If you develop a large one or it becomes infected, then  sometimes surgical removal is necessary.

Lymph node?: A lymph node resides in this area synonymous with mononucleosis  (mono / kissing disease ) If you are having other symptoms you need to be evaluated,  and possibly for lymphoma given your age and other neck pains.

Reactive node: The lump is most likely a reactive lymph node that tends to enlarge from pea sized to bean sized when stimulated by such things as skin rashes/bug bites/viruses &the like. They usually stay enlarged while stimulated &recede when not.Takes 3-4 weeks to settle down. Your doc can confirm this.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by secretions but if you are having drainage from a cyst that ruptured or a pierced ear that is oozing fluid, I'd say first off keep the area dry and clean. Soap and warm water, pat dry. If the area looks red, warm, and painful, it could be infected. In this case, it would be reasonable to get seen at a walk in clinic. Hope this helps

: Occipital neuralgia causes clear cut discomfort at the base of the neck with radiation up the scalp behind the ear.  Blockage of the eustachian tube at the back of the nose caused by nasal congestion or polyps can cause blocked ear sensation. I recommend a thorough evaluation by an ENT specialist for accurate diagnosis and proper treatment.
