In menopause: the uterine lining and fibroids should be inactive. These findings could represent post menopausal estrogen production/stimulation, from conversion of androgens to estriol, by peripheral aromatase conversion. Discuss with your doctor, as medications and/or endometrial sampling may be appropriate.

dear doctor, i was on a fet cycle but it got cancelled a day before embryo transfer (which was 27th nov 2017) as there was fluid in the lining of uterus. this fluid appeared after starting estradiol injections. whatcould be the causes of it & its rx?

FET cycle: if embryo transfer is to be successful, the lining of the uterus should have a characteristic thickened appearance on sonogram.  Estradiol prepares the lining for the hoped for implantation of the embryo. If the appearance of the lining is not favorable, it is probably not going to be a good transfer. Irregular levels of estrogen can produce this fluid appearance, and transfer is not going to work

: You gave more info in this question but my answer remains the same. Please follow your GYN's advice. Endometrial biopsy is required if you have vaginal bleeding. The fluid, if in small amount, in cul de sac is not an uncommon finding.

If I understand: If i understand what you are saying, you're asking how to make a period lighter by having less uterine lining to shed?  If that's your question, the answer is, you should consider oral contraceptives or birth control pill.  The pill tends to make women's periods lighter and shorter.

Endometrium: The "lining of the uterus" is the endometrium which grows monthly under the influence of estrogen and progesterone. At the end of that menstrual cycle the endometrium "sheds" and goes back to a minimal measurable size.

What did your doc: Say? Your doc should have explained all of the possible causes to you, could be from too much estrogen building up benign tissue, could be form intrauterine polyps or fibroids, could be from pre-cancer- hyperplasia or endometrial cancer if you were my pt i would do an in office hysteroscopy and biopsy  to r/o anything bad and then i can rec txmnent, hopefully your doc does this in the office.

Lining of uterus: When the lining of your uterus is thick it means that either you are in the last phase of your menstrual cycle or also it can be due to pregnancy. However, medical conditions of the uterus can also resemble a thick endometrium, like endometrial hyperplasia (pre -malginancy) endometrial polyps, or uterine fibroids.

Normal: This is typical, especially if you are on the birth control pill. Some women have a thin lining every month and have very light periods. Other women develop a very thick lining every month and have heavier periods. Both are normal.

Maybe: If you are having regular periods with no breakthrough bleeding, it is not likely to be a problem.  But if you do not have regular monthly menses, the thickening could be an indication of endometrial hyperplasia, which can progress to endometrial cancer.
