2 bladder or kidney stone
3tumours and cancer of bladder or kidneys
4benign prostatic hypertrophy and prostatitis
5kidney disease like glomerulonephritis
6 inherited alpert sybdrome and sickle cell disease
7meds like aspirin, anticoagulants, anti cancer drugs
8 some time strenuous exercise can too
blood can be visible or microscopic.

if a urinalysis shows no blood in urine  a week after a single gross hematuria event, does that mean the issue has resolved? (i.e. possible kidney stone passed, etc). i am on eliquis and had left flank plain 4 days before gross hematuria occurrence?

Yes, possible: Above scenario appears consistent with a passed stone, however you are left with the 2 conditions that contributed, taking a blood thinner and the propensity of forming stones and the risk for another such episode in the future remains high. Make sure all your treating docs are aware of recent events.

i've been taking fish oil for about 6 mos 3 to 4g daily and tappered off now n then.  recently i''ve seen oil in my urine n it smells like fiish oil?

Fish Oil: It certainly could be trace amounts of omega -3 in the urine. It doesn't take much to smell "fishy". The benefits of taking fish oil are less clear than they used to be. I would recommend that you check with your doctor to see if fish oil is right for you. If it is right, I would purchase the highest grade, highly purified brand that is either of Icelandic or Norwegian origin.

Krill oil: Krill oil is a fish oil. High doses of fish oil-which have  blood thinning properties-  have been associated with hematuria, especially if on other blood thinning medications. One could lower the dose. Would discuss the results with doctor /urgent care as other issues can cause hematuria -  chronic prostatitis, recent sexual activity, kidney dysfunction/ mass- and should be ruled  out.

Fish/krill oil: Can predispose people bleeding due to effects on platelets(one of your clotting cells) but hematuria or blood in the urine would be uncommon.  You need a further evaluation for causes of blood in the urine.

None of the above.: Protein in urine has a multitude of causes and can vary from small amounts to truly large amounts. Treatment of your proteinuria should be directed at the cause of the proteinuria not the proteinuria per se.  Protein intake may be modified depending upon your condition but this is not generally required. You should not change your protein intake without discussing with your doc.

in a recent blood test the only thing that changed was trigycerides dropped. could it be the fish oil?  i changed my diet last year also.

Yes: One of the beneficial effects of fish oil is its content of eicosapentaneoic acid (epa) and it does indeed reduce triglycerides. But it does not "take you off the hook" sugar is the underlyhing cause of high triglycerides so i assume that that was included in your change of diet.
