what can you expect the first time you try acupuncture?

Problem is this: Varies incredibly, as it depends on a person training.  Some acupuncturist diagnose based on your pulse and/or tongue findings.  Some acupuncturist diagnose based on palpations.  Some even based on how you fill out questionaires!  Beyond diagnosis, the treatments techniques are quite variable too.  Some only use needles, others needles, heat, magnets, laser, electrical stim !

is there a limit to have many times i can have acupuncture every week?

No: No, but realistically that could be quite expensive to have accupuncture more than 1-2 times a week. The only limit would probably be your insurance and your pocketbook... And of course how much free time you have.

how much time does it take to heal a shaken brain? does acupuncture help?

Accepted Answer

A long time: A closed head injury takes a long time to recover, unless it is a very very mild injury. Closed head injury means the brain got shaken up by forces like an impact or an explosion, but without the skull breaking open. The degree and rate of recovery is dependent upon individual circumstances. Many patients don't heal back to normal, but end up in a stable state that's different from before injury.

i had my first session of acupuncture for stress and insomnia and i am worse than ever! does one get worse before better?

Sometimes: Symptoms may become worse occasionally after acupuncture before they get better. Usually no change is the worst prognosis after a needling session.

doing acupuncture for the 1st time within the next 3 weeks to help my depression problem. is it a long term effective treatment for depression?

May help: Acupuncture can help.  If you've exhausted other treatments, therapies, medications, and now deep brain stimulation, then acupuncture, by a skilled acupuncturist who has some knowledge of depression and mental health issues may help. i have low ovarian reserve and endometriosis. should i try acupuncture to try to conceive a second child? first child is 2.5 y/o and i'm 35.

Fertility evaluation: If you are having difficulty getting pregnant then schedule a visit with an Obgyn or a Fertility specialist. They can analyze your individual case and determine the extent of your endometriosis and further define what is meant by low ovarian reserve. Then the treatment options can be discussed

ttc normal cycle is abt 33 days, but this time ovulation was on day 14. now day 26 and i have bleeding. period? why early? doing acupuncture + herbs

Accepted Answer

Still ok: A normal menstrual cycle can be as short as 21 days and as long as 35 days. If you ovulated on day 14 and then menstruated on day 26th then your luteal phase was 12 days, which is still considered normal also. Acupuncture and herbs can certainly affect your cycle. Tell your acupuncturist what happened this time and s/he may adjust your formula.

i am trying go use acupuncture for my chronic back pain; how many sessions does it take to try to rid the back pain because my back still hurts a lot? he did cupping for awhile and needles only for 10-15 min is that still work cuz short time?thanks?

: Before anyone can help can assist you a diagnosis is required. Also any other treatments tried? Medications? Physical therapy? X-rays?  Please try again with as much information as possible.

Moisture/antinflam: Atopic dermatitis is managed by reducing the tendency to scratch, which causes a flare, so reduce all forms of rubbing; cetaphil/ probiotics. If worse, consider low potency, short course (&lt; 2 weeks/episode) topical steroids, Elidel (pimecrolimus) or Protopic for &lt; 2 weeks/episode; atarax/ Benadryl q.I.D., p.O. Helps interrupt the scratch/itch cycle. Can try 2 tbs bleach in 1/2 tub--5 min guided soaking the body.

i've tried nicotine replacement therapy. i've tried to quit smoking many times. nothing seems to work. does acupuncture or hypnosis work?

Smoking cessation...: There are many different smoking cessation methods, all with variable success. One key component is to replace the smoking habit with another habit-decide ahead of time what you are going to do when you feel like smoking, besides smoking. Then, pick a quit date and let those around you know so they will support you. Any method will then have a higher success rate-pick one you can commit to.
