Moisture/antinflam: Atopic dermatitis is managed by reducing the tendency to scratch, which causes a flare, so reduce all forms of rubbing; cetaphil/ probiotics. If worse, consider low potency, short course (< 2 weeks/episode) topical steroids, Elidel (pimecrolimus) or Protopic for < 2 weeks/episode; atarax/ Benadryl q.I.D., p.O. Helps interrupt the scratch/itch cycle. Can try 2 tbs bleach in 1/2 tub--5 min guided soaking the body.
