Finger swollen: Would follow up with rheumtologist . sounds like an autoimmune process, like Raynauds or a vasculitis. May benefit from aspirin 81 mg if not  allergic , also discuss with rheumatologist use of calcium channel blockers . f/u /w /doc today for rheuamtology referral

Get X-ray : Not many organs in that area besides the liver but I would start by getting an X-ray to make sure you don't have a rib fracture

Uncertain why swelli: What was the cause of the cut? You could have cut a deeper blood vessel with more bleeding and it woud be wise to compress it.  It is wise to see your physician.

DIP? PIP? both: How long has this been going on? Can't link it to any specific neurologic or rheumatic condition. Certain vasculitides can do this and your positive rheum serology may go with this; however, symptoms stays more than 1 second.  Keep your mind on it. Buerger’s & other microscopic vasculities can initially present this way but you don't meet the profile. Cryoglobulinemia can do same very early on.

Difficult diagnosis: Might be herpes but not being able to examine the area makes this difficult to exclude slivers of foreign material which might have gotten under the nail, or a variety of other entities.
