what is the fibro scan?

Liver ultrasound: Fibroscan is a special type of liver ultrasound that can measure the stiffness of the liver, and is used to decide how much advanced hepatitis or cirrhosis may have damaged the liver in chronic disease. It is only helpful with chronic or advanced stages of liver disease, and does not reliably predict mild or moderate liver diseases, which can be assessed better by liver biopsy

i use oral ketamine and ldn for chronic fibromyalgia which helps a lot but need a datscan. iv been told not to take ketamine for 48 hours before the scan. 1. why is this important? and 2. how does ketamine effect datscan accuracy?

Da T Scan: A cocaine analogue is used in the radioactive tracer used in this scan to detect Parkinson's disease. Dopamine containing neurons involved in controlling movements are assessed. Ketamine may interfere with interpretation of the Da T Scan. A radiologist can answer your question best, however.

i have fnd, tmj, fibro & i have a wonky, numb, very noticeable mouth . the scans were normal. i am very self conscious & need a diagnosis to enable me to get support. could this be  oromandibular dystonia? how can i get a diagnosis? preferably online

hello , my father underwent throught a pet scan.  its written " non fdg avid, fibro-parenchymal scarring with traction dilatation of bronchi is seen involving apical segment of right upper lobe lung,-- old insult."
what does it mean ?

Not too much: He seems to have some old scarring in the top portion of his right upper lung lobe-some increased size of the breathing tube as a result in that area, -Not something likely to get worse, has been there a long time, unclear if there is any clinical(today /current ) effect on any function.

Diabetic Neuropathy : Could be diabetic neuropathy or cervical radiculopathy.  Can proceed with and MRI and/or EMG studies.

Metal Allergy?: Have you been tested for a metal allergy.  This can cause continual pain after replacement.  If this is the case see your ortho doc to see what options may be available.

Meds, et al: Fibromyalgia prescription drugs include gabapentin, lyrica, cymbalta, savella, (milnacipran) and perhaps some sleeping pills and analgesics.  But relaxation exercises, biofeedback, aerobic exercise, and improvement in sleep patterns, ail help substantially.  Visit a physiatrist or rheumatologist who has experience in the area.

Talk to your doctor: Talk to your doctor to discuss any new symptoms. Not all new symptoms are from fibromyalgia.

FM: For most people fibrofog is multifactorial but a large component usually stems from sleep deprivation. See a sleep specialist or a fm specialist to help you improve the quality of your sleep.
