A member asked:

I use oral ketamine and ldn for chronic fibromyalgia which helps a lot but need a datscan. iv been told not to take ketamine for 48 hours before the scan. 1. why is this important? and 2. how does ketamine effect datscan accuracy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Da T Scan: A cocaine analogue is used in the radioactive tracer used in this scan to detect Parkinson's disease. Dopamine containing neurons involved in controlling movements are assessed. Ketamine may interfere with interpretation of the Da T Scan. A radiologist can answer your question best, however.
