Pediatric anesthesia: Pediatric anesthesia will discuss with you.  Your child will be given a medicine to swallow and it will relax him.  Then in the operating room he will breath a gas that makes him sleep.  Next they will place a breathing tube.  Next dentistry will work and then ct.  After they will bring back topper sting room to wake up and remove breathing tube.  Hope this helps.

No: Many surgeries that require general anesthesia are done with lma (laryngeal mask airway); but the use if lma is contraindicated in many instances. So many surgeries are done with intubation still.

i had surgery (septoplasty) and the doc told me i was a difficult intubation.  what do i need to do, and what can i expect if a future surgery is need?

Often not modifiable: Some people are born with shorter necks and narrower upper airways. This can't be changed. But if you're above your ideal body weight, by getting down to your ideal body weight you will minimize the narrowing of your upper airway. If you require surgery in the future make sure you let the anesthetist know you were difficult to intubate so the proper equipment can be prepared.

Needs evaluation: Vocal cord irritation (not trauma) is a very common issue after any intubation as the endotracheal tube physically is passed through the vocal cords so oxygen can be supplied to the lungs.  The longer the intubation period the worse the irritation.  If there is actual trauma, then it needs to be evaluated by the anesthesiologist and and ENT physician.

i'm having carpal and cubital tunnel surgery- will intubation be required for general anesthesia?

If you choose : To have general anesthesia, a tube will most likely be used as a conduit for ventilation. Some tubes pass through the vocal cords, others do not. Discuss what is most appropriate for you with your anesthesiologist.

what type of intubation is used for hard palate surgery under ga? does ga mean i will b completely unconscious? never had ga before

Intranasal intubatio: May be used however the ultimate decision is by the Anaesthesiologist on the case. Yes you will be completely unconscious during GA, better ask for a consultation with the anaesthesia team, which they do anyways prior to surgery, good luck

i had a 3 hour rotator cuff surgery 3.5 weeks ago.  my voice has been hoarse and raspy since intubation.  when will my voice return to normal?

Depends : On individual but should have returned to normal by now. Call where surgery was done and report it and ask to speak to anesthilogist.

i had emergency surgery 2day ago (was intubated) &overnight in hospital. i now have mild coughing fits &constant feeling i need to cough. no sob. i dont know if its from intubation or if coronavirus.feels likes cold. should i be tested?

Cough: This is probably coming from the trauma/irritation to your trachea from the intubation.  COVID-19 should give you a fever, and SOB.   If from the intubation, the cough should get better.   If a fever develops, it could be related to the surgery, and not necessarily COVID-19.   You should stay in touch with your doctor and health team.  And you should be self-isolating anyway.

is it normal to cough up brown phlegm or blood tinged mucous after outpatient surgery intubation and if so when should i see a doctor?breathing fine.

Accepted Answer

YES: however if continues after 48 hours would seek some advice from your doctor!
