A member asked:

I had emergency surgery 2day ago (was intubated) &overnight in hospital. i now have mild coughing fits &constant feeling i need to cough. no sob. i dont know if its from intubation or if coronavirus.feels likes cold. should i be tested?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Cough: This is probably coming from the trauma/irritation to your trachea from the intubation. COVID-19 should give you a fever, and SOB. If from the intubation, the cough should get better. If a fever develops, it could be related to the surgery, and not necessarily COVID-19. You should stay in touch with your doctor and health team. And you should be self-isolating anyway.
