4yr old.with fever and headache. no cough or mucus?

Many thoughts: A 4 year old with fever and headache can have a mild illness or a severe illness.  I first think of strep throat or viral sore throat.  Then i think of pneumonia, viral infection, and then the big ones, meningitis and such.  I would like to know if s/he is better after some Ibuprofen or acetamenophen?  Rash?  Sore throat?  Enlarged nodes?  Eating or drinking?  If in doubt, see your pcp!

VIRAL INFECTION: Fever and headache in a 7 year old is almost always the result of a viral infection.  The normal period for these symptoms to last is about 7 to 10 days.  If there is no pain in the ear or pus in the nose, symptomatic treatment with tylenol (acetaminophen) or another anti-inflammatory drug is appropriate.  If the symptoms last longer than 10 to 14 days, please consult your pediatrician.

i gave my 13-year-old son 2 sudafed pills 2 hours ago and he has a fever of 102 & can i give advil along with this drug? my son has sweats, chills/fever and headache but sudafed helped his nasal congestion...can i mix advil with sudafed to help with this?

As : As long as you did not give a drug that is made up of a combination of sudafed and Ibuprofen or sudafed and naproxen, you can give your son advil (which is ibuprofen).  Just look on the sudafed box and it will tell you what the active ingredients are.  I hope he feels better soon!

our 5 year old has a fever and headache and body aches. can this be flu or do all flus include cold symptoms?

Too early for flu: If this is been going on for more than 24 hours and he is not taking good fluids, he should be seen right away. How bad is his headache? If he is vomiting because of a headache or has any problems with his vision or a rash or if he's not making sense, please take them to the emergency room right away

Could be viral.: This sounds like it could be a virus, which will have to resolve on its own. However, it could be strep throat if he also has a sore throat, or a food related intestinal infection. Appendicitis usually causes sharper, but not crampy pain. I would recommend that you take him to see his doctor to make the proper diagnosis.

Mgt: An inbox consultation is available, but one possible cause is colonization of his upper airway with bacteria or resistant infection which is partially treated and then recurs.

my 8 years old sister's wbc is 26000 and monocyte is 1.9. neutrophil is 22 it's normal range(2-8) she have sore throat,fever and headache. leukemia?!

Not necessarily: although need to be thought of, however there's fever and infection (the sore throat) and may be extensive bacteremia, which can spike the neutrophil count. How is she doing otherwise? the whole clinical picture is important, the first step is to exclude other causes such as drugs, (eg steroids​), repeat the test. look carefully at other cell lines, good history and physical exam are important

Allergy?: Or you may simply have been exposed to something at the same time each year as a random occurrence.  There are illnesses which occur more often in certain seasons, but you do not indicate what time of year or where you are located or anything else about the illness.  Need more info.

Possible delirium: Dear karthika,

because your father's current symptoms are preceded by the fever and headache, he could have a medical condition changing his behavior.  Sudden and acute onset, alteration in attention, and fluctuating course are the central features of delirium, which can be caused by a wide variety of things including meningitis and drug intoxications.  He needs emergency evaluation.

Viral meningitis: Not sure what you are asking, but one issue to consider with high fever and headache that readily recovers is viral meningitis.  However, a high fever from any source can cause a bad headache.  Hope you are back to good health.
