feels like something stuck on side of throat and painful if i touch/swallow/. post wisdom tooth extractions. (see last question) can it be abcess?

Accepted Answer

It is possible: but it's all normal after wisdom tooth removal especially if the surgery was complicated. Many patients complain of difficulty swallowing after surgery. Swallowing can be improved by using NSAIDs, mouth gargles with warm salty water the day following surgery and if concerned see your surgeon for a check up.

it feels like the tooth is coming in at a akward angle. is that possible? i see a small white tip and feel something sharp.

Accepted Answer

Possible, yes: But at age 30 it would be very unusual for you to still be getting a tooth (accept for wisdom teeth in the very back). Teeth can defiantly come in at odd angulations.  The only way to know for sure what is going on is to have a dental exam and possibly an x-ray of the area.

it feels like the tooth right next to cemented is being pushed out,  like if it is not attached to the wiring anymore. is that possible?

Vague: Hard to say what kind of dental procedure that you had done.  But I would not hesitate.  Go back in and see your dentist

front tooth looks like something scraped it, it's not chipped as in a peice is missing it's just scratched and noticeable, at least to me.  options?

"scraped" tooth: Did you have braces? Do you scrub your teeth vigorously--the scrape or divot in the tooth may be from some enamel that was removed when the brackets were taken off or from tooth brush abrasion.  Check with your dentist and find out your options.

i had top braces for a week and 4 days and i feel like there is something in my front tooth where the bracket is i need to pop why is that?

Orthodontist: Your concerns should be addressed to the orthodontist who is treating you and knows exactly what appliances were placed, and where. It's so hard to diagnose these types of problems, sight unseen.

should i be able to feel any pain in a tooth after a root canal? i had a root canal done in the winter, and now i feel like i can feel something in that tooth again. is that possible? could i be imagining things, or maybe actually be feeling another tooth

There : There is no nerve in the tooth for you to feel pain from the tooth itself.  There may be something occurring outside the tooth, such as an infection that is causing the pain or there may be a fracture in the tooth.  Recommend you see the endodontist that treated the tooth for a reevaluation.

what does a hypersensitive tooth feel like?

Hot/Cold sensitive: Gererally a hypersensitive tooth will be sensitive to temperatures, especially cold.  The tooth may be particularly sensitive along the gum line where the crown of the tooth and the root join.

This sounds : Painful. Pain of a tooth is not normal. Please seek evaluation by your dentist to find out the cause and to determine if treatment is needed.

i have a crown that feels too bulky and would like to get a new one done. would it effect the tooth structure under to get a new one?

Accepted Answer

Bulky Crown: Depending on what the material is the crown may be able to be recontoured. However, if the there is still an abundant amount of tooth structure underneath the crown, that maybe causing the bulkiness? You may have to have the tooth reduced some to get rid of the bulkiness? Anytime you have a tooth worked on there is always a chance the nerve may not like and may die. Be careful.

what is life like with a tooth crown?

Accepted Answer

A crown: Merely protects the (defective) tooth returning it to one of normal form and function.  The tooth is prepared (reduced) in all dimensions to allow for a crown to cover it.   It should essentially feel, look and function like a natural tooth.  Hope this helps.
