They are neutral in raising the LDL cholesterol & liquid at body temp.Trans saturated fatty acids are saturated fats- having lots of hydrogen atoms & the double bonds are in a trans configuration. They raise LDL , solid @ 98.6.

Fat = calories: Fat is a very efficient way to intake calories which your body needs for energy, as well as a very efficient way to store energy.

The problem occurs when calorie intake is greater than calorie usage.  The body will then store the excess calories it as fat for future use as energy.

Unfortunately with the widespread availabilty of food, that day may never come, and obesity subsequently develops.

Transformed veg. oil: Trans fat is what one gets by adding hydrogen to vegetable oil. The trans fat is more solid, less "oily", and makes junk food more stable for a longer time. Trans fat is bad because it raises a person's bad cholesterol, and lowers his good cholesterol, so it blocks up arteries worse than saturated fats do. Food labels that say "0 grams" trans fat mean "less than half a gram", not necessarily zero!
