Surveys have often shown the absence of the true Ginko in most commercial bottles, and unclear what you might be taking.  Discontinue the supplement and discuss what can be mixed with your current medications.

There are many: Things you can do to help your depression.  Don't isolate. Spend time w people. Having a support system is very important. Get out. Don’t allow yourself to stagnate at home.  Work to get at least 8 hours of sleep per night & eat as healthfully as possible.  Daily aerobic physical activity  is a big +.  Highly recommend the “feeling good book' by dr. David burns. Don't just read it - do it!

Anxiety Meds: Fast acting are benzodiazepines ativan, klonopin, xanax.Long acting are ssri prozac, zoloft, celexa, Lexapro Buspar (buspirone) and new gen Cymbalta etc.Best is to have  a baseline stable meds and not just use as needed meds. Get a consultation with a psychiatrist to get better recommendations and treatment and don't live with a disabling anxiety.

Buspirone: Buspar (buspirone) is a non- benzodiazepine anti-anxiety medication and would be a good alternative for a fast acting anti-anxiety med outside of the benzo class.

i was prescribed buspirone as a as needed basis. i questioned this and told it was fast acting and would help anxiety symptoms in the moment but for on going therapeutic effectiveness it would be prescribed as a routine medication. is this true?

: Buspirone is approved for anxiety treatment starting at 7.5mg twice a day and increasing the dose up to a max dose of 60mg total. It achieves peak concentration in blood in 40 to 90 minutes. It is also often prescribed as needed for anxiety and it is safer than benzodiazepines.

ive been on quetiapine (25mg) for a while. my psychiatrist today said i should increase to 4 times daily. is this fast acting and will it help with my anxiety? im spiraling?

: Quetiapine is fairly fast acting and effective for many with generaliized anxiety disorder and total of 100mg/ day (25mg 4 times daily is well within dosage guidelines providing you are free of side effects such as dizziness, dry mouth, vomiting or constipation.Trust your Dr.. Trial and error.: I wish there was an easy answer to your query, but quite honestly patients often trial an average of three to four of these medications before they find that one that just works great.  Sometimes patients even need a combination of medications to do the trick.  Just tell your doctor that Lexapro (escitalopram) just isn't doing it for you, and you wish to try something else.

on citalopram for 3 days but have side effects, and increased anxiety and panic attacks u think a dr could change me to prozac (fluoxetine) since its fast acting?

SLOW IT DOWN: May need to just reduce the dose a little of the citalopram. There is no faster acting medication and Prozac (fluoxetine) would not be faster. When you have anxiety you need to go on medication very slowly to avoid increase in anxiety.

YES/NO: Medications that treat anxiety are many and not limited to what is referred to as "antianxiety meds"  which usually are benzodiazepines , for those , they do relax smooth  muscles and may drop blood pressure, it is not a clinically significant common side effect that we see frequently in anxiety clinic.
