Trial and error.: I wish there was an easy answer to your query, but quite honestly patients often trial an average of three to four of these medications before they find that one that just works great. Sometimes patients even need a combination of medications to do the trick. Just tell your doctor that Lexapro (escitalopram) just isn't doing it for you, and you wish to try something else.

Let shrink propose: I appreciate your proactive interest in your therapy but you should discuss how you are doing and let your psychiatrist propose alterations in your medications. The SSRIs take 4-6 weeks to reach effectiveness. Sometimes the dosages have to be adjusted . There are also alternative types of medications

MEDICATION: Best to discuss medication with your Psychiatrist. If uncomfortable with your Dr. consult another for a second opinion. Have a physical exam by a Dr. to determine if you have a physical illness. Consult with a Clinical Psychologist for psychotherapy with ZOOM sessions. Fears and anxiety could be heightened due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Stay safe & hopeful to elevate your immune system.
