Not in your state: Virginia does not have a medical marijuana program.  Maryland does, as does DC.   From my experience, cannabis does have anti-inflammatory properties and does help with pain but moreso with pain perception rather than actual pain relieving.  It will improve your sleep, lower blood pressure, and help you deal with your condition better.  Prescription marijuana is not as effective.

Vaginal "boil": For a vaginal "lump" or "boil", this may be what is called a Bartholin's or a Gartner's duct cyst, and needs to be examined by your gyn physician. Many of these need to be drained or removed.

Urologist: Make an appointment with two urologists in the area and get opinions about the planned surgery and also discuss it with your PCP. This is a good idea before any surgery plan. You may also want to talk to the anesthesiologist.

That's a problem: That medication is a class 2 controlled substance closely monitored by the feds. Any doc who prescribes it without a proper evaluation/reason for use &amp; records can lose their drug use permit &amp; face disciplinary action. You will need to check around for any local clinics that might serve you on a sliding scale/self pay. Otherwise get on an insurance plan. Good luck.

Not generally: Most reimbursement levels are set by contracts with hmo/ppo or insurance companies & peds get paid the same as fp's in most areas. You can call around in your area & check it out yourself.

Not much difference!: Family medicine and family practice doctors are the same.  These are the doctors who specialize in you!  they provide comprehensive care across the life span from infancy through old age.  Many deliver babies!  they are able to take care of about 90% of the problems that a person needs to see a doctor for.  They provide care in the context of your biological, social and psychological situation.

Highly variable: Some work only in office with receptionist, med tech; some have nurse(s); some have nurse practitioner or physician's assistant; many also see patients in hospital &/or nursing homes. Depending on complexity of cases, docs may see between 15 - 50 or more pts a day. Some do minor procedures like removing skin lesions. Many do female pelvic exams & general/sports/drivers physicals. More but no space.

It varies: While I am not a family physician, i know that most doctors, in general, work more than 40 hrs per week. In addition, most doctors have to "take call, " for stuff which occurs after hours. I might say that dermotologists may have the best lifestyles among most physicians. I think most family practioners have an office based practice. Hope that helps.
