Highly variable: Some work only in office with receptionist, med tech; some have nurse(s); some have nurse practitioner or physician's assistant; many also see patients in hospital &/or nursing homes. Depending on complexity of cases, docs may see between 15 - 50 or more pts a day. Some do minor procedures like removing skin lesions. Many do female pelvic exams & general/sports/drivers physicals. More but no space.

Pre-med student?: I am a family doctor and it's busy. I had a fair yet fun residency with due diligence and research. Crozer Keystone in Pennsylvania. I work hard with decent money. I have my own practice now. I am happy. I have pushed forward to create the happiness that I enjoy. Family Medicine allows me to converse with patient and create relationships and it makes me feel good. Do what makes you happy first!
