had 3 month routine blood test cause of high cholesterol meds. hemoglobin came back 11.4 range is 11.6-15 other months was in normal range. what can cause this? can it be diet? is this a major serious concern? repeating the test? thank you?

: A significant decrease in the Hgb or Hct warrants an explanation.  You're either losing blood,not making blood normally or your body may be destroying blood.  We get clues from low MCV( iron deficiency), high MCV ( Vit B12 or folic acid deficiency), serum iron &amp; TIBC, serum B12 &amp; folate levels, retculocyte count, finding occult blood in a stool sample,etc. Your MD or a hematologist will advise you

Sometimes: Chest pain can be caused by coronary vasospasm decreasing the blood flow to the heart. High choleserol and LDL can cause atherosclerosis which can make this worse and subsequently stop the flow of blood to the heart causing pain or cardiac arrest. Hdl is considered cardioprotective.

Rule out..: Two entities that cause erectile dysfunction that are often missed are hemochromatosis and prolactinoma. Just a heads up.

Coronary artery dis: Get the high lipids treated. Ask your doctor to measure hscrp in your blood, and also get your doctor to check a coronary calcification score. This will determine if the pain is probably cardiac in nature. Further tests might include a ct angiogram of the heart. Cj glueck md.

Be very concerned: Rather than worry, insist that your physician figure out why you have elevated transaminases. With these ; only these labs, you have hepatitis c, hemochromatosis, wilson's or autoimmune hepatitis until proved otherwise. All are treatable, but not by worry. You may simply have non-alcoholic steatohepatitis. I do trust you're alcohol-free at this point. Hit the gym hard ; continue the workup.

Not per se: High cholesterol by itself does not cause any symptoms. The disorders induced by high cholesterol may. If the dizziness has persisted for more than two weeks, it would be time to see your doctor.

When the brain gets decreased blood flow, all the bad things that you can imagine happening to the brain will indeed start to happen. That includes lowered cognitive functioning. Keep those arteries clear!

Fish oil in shrimp.: The cholesterol in shrimp, like that in other fish, is predominantly healthy monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats.  The problem with shrimp is that it's so easy to eat a lot of them as they're essentially finger-food.  So in total, the cholesterol can add up to a lot of calories.  Having a few steamed or grilled shrimp would be just fine.
