botox type injections into static frown lines caused major droopy eye lids. i suppose that ultherapy or peleve would do the same for my whole face?

Accepted Answer

Options to treat: Lid ptosis from Botox A occurs when the botox crosses the tarsal plate in the upper lid and inhibits the lid lifting muscles or because you are using your forehead muscles to lift the lids and Botox reduces the lift. Ulthera and Peleve can be used to lift lids. Topical treatments are available. I would revisit whoever did the Botox for treatment of the lid ptosis. Or get a second opinion.

facelift options: i have noticed so many people with droopy eye lids and few forehead creases after facial injections. is this supposed to happen?

Accepted Answer

No: Botox is used to prevent muscles from contracting and thus smooth out facial lines, especially in the forehead, between the eyes (to reduce the look from frowning). Eyelid droop can occur if the medication is injected too close to the eyebrow on the forehead. The droop is self limiting but of course is annoying.

son has muscular dystrophy. school had an eye exam and they made a note that his eye lids are drooping a little over his pupils. should he be seen by his doctor?

MD: I would have him see an eye physician...Not only due to ptosis (eyelid drooping) which can be helped with minor surgery but also for cataracts and other ophthalmalogic problems associated with various muscular dystrophies....

i think i have mild lid lag (left eye) or droopy eyelid (right eye). it came out of nowhere and doctor checked for signs of stroke etc and i had none. other symptoms are mild headache in the left eye area that i believe has lid lag?

: You have to have both workups:

1. If considering your left eye as abnormal the most common cause is Thyroid disease.  Your primary care doctor can do the tests.

2. Considering right eye is now droopy, most common sudden causes other than trauma could be a migraine like attack.  You should see a neuro-ophthalmologist who can do an OCT of your eyes to see if there is any brain lesions &amp; then MRI.

5 month headache only affects right side of head, face, and eye.  heaviness in face with new symptom of drooping eyelid when symptoms are severe.  currently on sumatriptan and 50mg of topamax.  i have had ct and mri.  whats next?

: There are many different types of headaches but it is known that migraine headaches can be linked to Bell's palsy which you may have. Assuming the MRI and CT scan did not show any significant anatomic lesion or abnormality, you should be seen by an appropriately trained provider for trials of alternate medication interventions. There is no "one size fits all" medication regimen for your symptoms.

is there any way to correct a droopy eyelid and a lazy eye?

Eyelid- yes: The droopy eyelid is called ptosis. It is usually caused by a muscle or nerve problem that is amenable to surgery. The lazy eye (amblyopia )treatment depends on the age of the patient. If the patient is under 12 years old then patching may help improve the vision. Over age 12 the nervous system is developmentally stable and patching will not help improve the vision.

It depends on cause: There are many reasons for a droopy eyelid and to find out what is causing this visit your ophthalmologist as a starting point. It could be related to trauma from kickboxing, but it could also be something else.

Drooping eyelid: Trauma around the eyes can cause a drooping eyelids.  However there can be many causes for drooping lids.  If you have a drooping lid following trauma I strongly suggest that you be evaluated by an expert to determine why you that is drooping

Droopy eyelid: This is a condition that can be treated with surgery on the droopy eyelid only or in conbination with other eyelid surgery.

Get some sleep!: If the dropy lid persists after you have had rest, might consider seeing an ophthalmologist!
