taking bactrimds for impetigo. few days ago pain/press. behind eyes, nausea, swollen glands back of head, fever, bodyaches, flu shot in sept. ideas?

Sinus infection?: Pain behind your eyes is typical for a sinus infection. The nausea, sweats, chills and body aches could be signs of a bacterial or viral infection, including the flu or mono. The flu shot protects 50-70% of healthy adults, so you can still get the flu, which is a virus. If it's a bacterial infection of your sinuses, Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) likely isn't enough. Either way, you're very ill, so please call your doc!

Eyelid infection: Since impetigo is an infection of the skin and there is skin on the eyelids, technically impetigo can occur there.

Impetigo: It is primarily caused by staphylococcus aureus, and sometimes by streptococcus pyogenes.  Both of these organisms can be present in nasal and oral secretions and easy to get onto the face.  The name actually means "school sores" from the latin.

i have impetigo&have taken kelflex &bactroban (mupirocin) for 10 days.the bactroban (mupirocin) is making the sores& inside nose bright red & swollen. what do i do?

Stop the bactroban (mupirocin): You can be sensitive/allergic to the bactroban (mupirocin) & should stop it immediately. Call your dr so the information can be reviewed & get into your medical record. If your dr wants to continue an ointment for the sores there are others out there that can be used.

Fighting Infections: Yes.  This is exactly what happens when you have a significant infection. The glands of your lymph system swell to eat up the toxins and bacteria in the infection.  This all sounds very normal.

Impetigo: It could be impetigo, or bacterial cellulitis, which is a slightly less invasive skin infection, but both have a potential to become a life-threatening deep-skin infection, such as an abscess, boil, or furuncle. Make sure IV or oral antibiotics are used to clear the infections

Complete therapy: No. As per your information, you are receiving therapy and  you need to be compliant. The lesions will heal and you will be fine . Talk to your doctor if you do not see  improvement over the time that your doctor told you . Look for immediate reevaluation if symptoms worsen.

The issues with: Impetigo and yeast infection may be separate from the pressure behind eyes, headache, swollen, painful nodes.    The sxs are not specific for any one condition - so would seek med eval if not improving.
