Nystagmus: The infant might have a condition termed nystagmus, an involuntary shaking of the eyes  with several patterns.  If this is observed, see a pediatric ophthalmologist right away to get a proper diagnosis and prognosis.

Tobastar: tobastar is a combination steroid and antibiotic and should be used only if advised by your MD.

Many things: Constant eye rubbing can mean many things from simple eye allergies to the infant rubbing eyes because they hurt the infant or has poor vision (oculodugital syndrome). See a your pediatrician first, ask to be sent to a pediatric ophthalmologist. Ear rubbing has not been found to predict ear infections (pediatrics 4.2010) the child is self simulating maybe normal, but good idea to get examined.

Normal: Probably normal especially if you are flashing lights in her eyes.

Unlikely: Reactiviation is rare and unlikley during pregnanacy  you will not pass the infectin on to the fetus.

Sounds : Sounds like a blocked tear duct.  These generally resolve spontaneously and need to be addressed if it does not resolve after year 1.  Seeing, your pedeatrician or ophthalmologist can provide you with guidance and reassurance and follow up care as necessary.

Yes: conjunctivitis either bacterial or viral is contagious. You must be extremely careful with good handwashing techniques and antibacterial gels (purell). Pink eye is one of the few things that can infect the entire family, household contacts.

if an infant needs to have surgery for non-germinal retinoblastoma, will they be blind in the affected eye?
