Nose: Sit down, head straight, pinch your nose at the bottom and put icepacks over the bridge of the nose. Avoid aspirin and ibuprofen. If it continues to bleed best to go to the ER..

Can happen: Yes - that can happen. You might want to avoid pulling out the clots at that time - as that could keep the bleeding going.

If recurs see ENT: You most likely have an area in the front of your nose that is inflamed and irritated. There are large superficial blood vessels in the front of the nose that are easily injured by blowing and cleaning. Seeing an ENT doctor is important as he/she can look in your nose and see if there is a vessel that can be easily cauterized. For now avoid putting anything in your nose including saline.

Epistaxis : 80% of people experience this in their lives. A common cause is dry, hot air in the western US, causing nasal dryness and crusting. The nasal tissue cracks and bleeds easily. Treatment includes humidification in bedroom, nasal saline sprays &amp; sometimes vaseline in the nose. It's not a major health hazard, but should an ENT doctor who can better evaluate. There may be problems not seen by PCM.

i have experienced nose bleed for the last few days. a few minutes ago my nose started to bleed and now a big clot came out of nostril. i have this burning pain sensation in the nostril which moves up to my head. do i have to go see my gp?

Yes: It would be useful to see your GP. The GP may be able to address the issue, if not the GP will be in a better position to suggest an appropriate specialist. If bleeding with clots recurs before you see the GP, it would be prudent to the emergency/casualty department of your hospital.

: You need to be seen by an ENT doc. There is no partial or full swelling of lymphnodes as they can be from pea size to a golf ball depending on the condition causing the enlargement
