i get pain in my biceps, triceps and chest after my gym workout session. should i skip a day?

Accepted Answer

Yes: Sounds reasonable
after a hard workout it would be reasonable to take the following  day off
most people who do weights do this to allow muscle recovery
i believe it to be different with aerobic activities.

noticed weakness in my tricep yesterday when i finished my chest workout.i don't feel any pain,there is no mobility issue.it's about 30% weaker than normal , feels like some nerve weakness.long head of tricep contracts normally,shorthead feels weaker?

: May be transient issue which will resolve.  If persistent see your doctor as could be nerve pinching in neck or radial neuropathy

You can: Many chest exercises incorporate the triceps as well, so it's convenient to work both on the same day. The benefit of alternating is to give your (larger) chest muscles more time to recover between sets.

Yes: There is no physiologic reason why you can't do these on the same day.

Accepted Answer

It should.: If you're referring to weight training to build these muscle groups, then yes, you should gain weight. Muscles will hypertrophy (grow) from weight training, and that growth should result in a weight gain. Keep in mind that you may need to hit the weights for at least 6 weeks, before appreciating any gain in muscle weight.

avid exerciser. did chest/triceps last mon. pain in middle of left pectoral that spreads up. never happened before. costochronditis? remedies for it?

Pulled muscle: You likely pulled/strained a muscle.  Arnica can be helpful.  Gently stretch to keep it from stiffening, but do not stretch to the point of pain.  Ice decreased inflammation and pain, while heat promotes blood flow and healing.

Workout Program: Recovery time depends on the type of resistance training you do, how many reps and sets, how much rest you get between sets.  Many good work out program out there depending on your goals.  In general try not to work specific body part more than  2 times a week and avoid doing back to back.  A very good beginning program that incorporates power, strength and endurance principles is "body for life".

Good start: But add resistance exercises with increasing wts., for example 3 sets of 7, increasing wts at each set

i get dull aches, mostly on the left side of my chest. i sometimes get a "poking" feeling in my middle tricep. i alsoget occasional slight headches. i got myself checked thricein three weeks but found nothing. what should i do?

Atypical CP: Occasionally diseases involving the cervical spine & nearby nerves can cause the described pattern of pain. Physical exam & MRI +/- nerve test can provide the answer.  If pre-test probability for a cardiac source is low and cardiac work-up negative, its time to look elsewhere. The headaches are mild, but if new, unusual, changing, it should be reported asap.

hi  im 22 years old and train regularly but about a week a go i got a pain in my lower left chest that spread to my tricep/bicep that comes and goes. ?

Pain in chest: One would be concerned about a strain or tear of either the pectoralis major or tear of the biceps. I would see an orthopaedic doctor just to be safe.
