Not effective: Over the counter contain 2 per cent hydroquinone which is not very effective. Revaleskin, or prescription lustra or epiquin micro are more effective. Revaleskin contains coffeberry extract and is not irritating. It is also less expensive then others.

Bleaching agents : The safest way to avoid tanning further would be to use a heavy sunblock- in terms of a bleaching agent- there are some things that are prescribed at times for certain conditions to even out the skin tone but usually require a doctor or dermatologist.

Good Question!: There are some studies being done to see is ha is effective in retaining collagen (thus retaning a youthful appearance) or in lubricating the joints for humans with various forms of arthritis but nothing definite has been found as of yet. I do know that the liquid form has shown promise for reducing symtoms for dogs with arthritis. Maybe they will find an oral form that helps humans as well.

Not a good idea: Permanent desensitization of the skin is not a good idea. You may use condoms that contain a local anesthetic which may help in lasting longer.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex.

Drying agents, like powders, can help prevent many fungal infections by minimizing the moist environment they prefer.

Effects are debatabl: There are few studies on the effect of collagen in easing conditions like osteoarthritis.Collagen creams do nothing exept waste of your money.Only treatment with some positive effect is collagen injections
oral collagen supplements are not regulated, so you do not know what you are getting.Most collagen oral are made from cow or chicken products and can be dangerous if you have food allergies.

i was prescribed selenium sulfide 2.5 shampoo and think i'm having an adverse reaction (skin irritation, no rash), how long before it goes away?

A few days: The irritant or allergic contact reaction should go away in a few days without continuing contact.  A topical cortisone may hasten the recovery a little.
