Isopure better.: Actually, the Isopure brand may be better.  40 grams of protein.  No carbs at all.  Only 160 calories.  Good in between meals.

Eat lots of protein: Milk & dairy products are not your only source of protein and certainly not an absolute requirement for muscle growth. Instead, focus on consuming lots of non-dairy protein thru out the day, eg fish, chicken, beans, etc. And don't forget regular exercise, too.

Protein: Muscle milk is just a high protein shake, with vitamins, minerals.  If your son gets adequate protein from food, this is probably unnecessary.  An athletic 12 year old is probably eating a lot. If his diet is balanced and healthy, he is in good shape.  A bit more protein will not harm your son, but I tend to be concerned about what else may be in these shakes (read ingredients carefully).
