i am 19 years old and every time i get a sore throat, i produce excess saliva. why and how can i prevent this? my family members do not get this.

Swallowing problem: I can't be specific without examing you, but my guess is that your sore throat is associated with swelling inthe back of your throat.  The swelling decreases how quickly you can swallow the saliva that you are producing.  I doubt that you are actually producing more saliva-but rather, not swallowing it as easily as normal.

since a child i usually get a type of sore throat that produces excess saliva. most irritating at night in bed. what is this? it is not mucus/phlegm.

Hypersecretions: You have hypersecretions of saliva. There a variety of reasons that can cause the condition. Reflux is one reason, poor oral hygiene is another. Your allergies may be a third reason.

Seasonal flu: It is very common viral infection. Usually the condition resolves on its own with home care. Drink water and get a good rest. If there is no improvement or sore throat is severe or lasts longer than another  week, or you are getting joint pain; see your pcp for evaluation.

Lots of ideas: I have lost of ideas, but can't diagnose you over the internet. Viral? Allergies? Strep throat and 100 more possibilities. Your best bet is to see your physician for a definitive diagnosis and treatment if necessary.

Dr. can check throat: New throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold virus, influenza (Tamiflu may be needed), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, is with moderate or high fever, or with much coughing or worrisome symptoms. "Excess saliva" can also occur with huge tonsils or tonsillar abscess.

Infection: A good bet will be a viral throat infection. Excessive salivation is a little worrisome. If you have severe difficulty and pain on swallowing coupled with fever and problem breathing, have yourself checked tonight at the ed as these are symptoms of a peritonsillar abscess. Otherwise, have a strep test done in  the morning.

Not burping: Burping is not known to be a typical symptom of COVID infection, however a sore throat may be. Best at this stage will be to let your GP know so that (s)he may be able to further coordinate.

: Saliva soothes and also has antibacterial properties. But sore throats usually need more for treatment. You may try gargling with warm salt solution.

Yes they can: Yes they can any blood around the PEG tune area.any cough, aspiration. Do you get feeding at night while sleeping?if persisted check with your doctor
