Infection: A good bet will be a viral throat infection. Excessive salivation is a little worrisome. If you have severe difficulty and pain on swallowing coupled with fever and problem breathing, have yourself checked tonight at the ed as these are symptoms of a peritonsillar abscess. Otherwise, have a strep test done in the morning.
